A Visionary Commissioner

His journey as Greater Manchester’s first Cycling and Walking Commissioner since July 2017 showcases a commitment to transforming urban mobility. The "Made to Move" report, a 15-step plan for a cycling and walking network, stands testament to his visionary approach, evolving into a £1.5 billion plan.

Leadership in Transport

In May 2021, Boardman expanded his role as Greater Manchester’s first Transport Commissioner. His mandate includes accelerating the delivery of the Bee Network, a city region-wide transport system, demonstrating a holistic approach to sustainable urban transportation.

Chair of Sport England

As Chair of Sport England since July 2021, Boardman actively supports embedding environmental sustainability in the Government’s Get Active strategy. Active Travel England Leadership

In 2022, Boardman was engaged by the Government to set up and lead Active Travel England, an Executive Agency of the Department of Transport. Tasked with getting 50% of all journeys cycled or walked by 2030, this initiative showcases Boardman's commitment to actionable sustainability goals.
